Methods of car shipping
Car shipping has become increasingly popular during last few years. While many factors contribute to this increase in popularity, ironically, the global financial crisis strands above all.

Although responsible for stagnation or even decrease in other lines of business, it has significantly helped the auto shipping industry.

The main reason for this is the downsizing of car factories and an overall decrease in car production caused by people affected by the crisis buying less cars. This lower car production causes certain brands and models to be less available.

This affected mostly more expensive and luxurious types of cars to save money for the car factories. However, the demand for such cars has decreased only mildly since the typical buyer of these cars has not been hit by the crisis so much. This leads to an increase in auto shipping since various cars have become practically unavailable in certain areas and have to be shipped from elsewhere.
The most common type of shipping through shorter distances has been shipping by trucks or trains. Probably the best example of this is shipping of expensive cars from western to eastern Europe. This is caused by the lack of luxurious cars produced in eastern Europe even though the demand for such cars is constantly rising because of the fast economic growth of these eastern countries.

For the last few years, the crisis has impaired car production in both Europe and USA, which has caused certain brands to be available only in USA and some to be available only in Europe. This forces people who want to buy unavailable car brands and models to ship them across the Atlantic Ocean. Surprisingly, this kind of car transport is relatively easy and cheap. Cars are shipped by trucks to coastal ports where they are later put on large boats and transported across the ocean. Once the boat reaches a port on the other side of the ocean, the cars are unloaded and once again put on a truck or a train to be sent to the buyer.

Since this kind of car transport is used mostly for expensive cars, the initial cost of the shipping is relatively small compared to the price of the car. This makes it very popular and since the financial crisis is expected to last for a couple of more years, we can expect additional growth in the auto shipping industry.
