Where Will You Be When The Car Shipping Company Shows Up

When was the last time you shipped something? Some people ship things every single day. It could be part of their job, or maybe they just like to send things to their relatives. When was the last time you shipped a car? That’s right, you can ship a car, but most people don’t know this.

Shipping your car is much like shipping anything else, except you can’t use the local Post Office to get this shipping job done, and you can’t use UPS or Fed-Ex either. You will have to hire a company that specializes in shipping cars. For some companies this is their entire business. It is what they do all day, and all night, every single day of the year. They know the best ways to get large amounts of vehicles from one place to another. To these auto shipping companies, shipping a car is nothing, but you may have a question or two when it comes to having a vehicle transported half way across the country.

One of the most common questions that often shows up when people start looking into having their vehicles shipped is this. “Do I need to be there when the car shipping company picks up my vehicle?” – This is a really good question, and the answer really depends on the auto shipping companies policies.

What about when the vehicle is delivered? Do you need to be present when the vehicle is delivered to? Again, this will really depend on the car shipping companies policies. Here is some good news. Most auto shipping companies do not require that your be present at the time of pickup or delivery. Well then how would they be able to move your vehicle? Here is the catch to this all too common auto shipping question.

Someone has to be present at the time of pickup, and at the time of the delivery of your vehicle. This person must be designated by you prior to making the arrangements to have your vehicle shipped.

Auto shipping companies are not required by law to check the registration of the vehicle at the time of pickup. The only thing that the auto shipping company will need is the keys to the car, and a signature on the bill of lading.

Once the auto shipping company arrives for the pickup. The auto transport driver will want to do a quick inspection of the vehicle prior to loading it on the truck. Someone must be present during this inspection. If there are any obvious physical problems with the vehicle, these problems will be noted on the vehicle inspection report, and the inspection report must be signed by someone before the auto shipping company will take the vehicle.

Now you have the answer to one of the most common car shipping questions there is. This will make it even easier to get the move done. You will not even need to be around when the auto shipping company shows up. You can spend all of your time getting ready for the move.
